Our 20 faculties with their many institutes and 450+ chairs cover all fields of research: Humanities, Social Sciences including Law and Business, Engineering Sciences including IT, Natural Sciences, and Life Sciences including Medicine and hospital cooperation.
We are a one-campus university. Profiting from short ways, we stand for research beyond disciplinary boarders. Our nine Research Departments bring interdisciplinary approaches to a new level, complemented by cutting-edge research facilities: Cyber Security, Solvation Sciences, Materials Research, Neurosciences, Protein Research, Religious Studies, Plasmas, Subsurface Modeling and Closed Carbon Cycle Economy. In addition, 12 Collaborative Research Centres and Transregios are integrated in RUB. In seven of them, RUB assumes the speaker function.
Ruhr-Universität Bochum also cooperates with numerous non-university research institutes, such as Fraunhofer, Leibniz Association, Helmholtz, or Max Planck Society.

The cross-faculty RUB Research School is the central campus hub for early career researchers at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. RUB Research School offers advice, an advanced qualification beyond borders, various funding opportunities, supports a seamless transition into the job market.

RUB Research School offers funding opportunities for short-term visits from two weeks to six months to let you explore research options, exchange ideas, getting to know each other, and, most importantly, initiate and develop funding proposals.
